Working with AHMM Architects BBUK designed the roof terraces relating to the refurbishment of an office in the middle of the City of London. The design was conceived as a city square in the sky where office workers could meet casually at lunch time or at more formal evening events.
Simple granite paving was laid across the ground then returned vertically to clad the planter and seating walls. The height of the walls was carefully considered with taller sections that form a ‘bar’ which people can lean against, the lower sections have timber seats, some with backrests and others without. The vast majority of the planting was native in character to maximise ecology credits for the BREEAM rating, with more exotic species to give long season to the planting design.
